CaixaBank is one of the main banks in Spain. When I joined the project, they had just completed a total redesign of the mobile app and were in the process of documenting the entire Design System and updating the flows that were still using the old design.

I joined as a UX/UI designer and was responsible for keeping the Design System updated, whether by creating new components or by providing comprehensive documentation for all stakeholders (designers, PMs, POs, developers) who used it, ensuring they could understand and use the components effectively.

Research

I was also responsible for conducting research for new functionalities that they wanted to implement and creating concepts for the business. This way, they could determine if it fit into their business strategy and start shaping the project from scratch. If the project moved forward, I was also in charge of adapting it to the bank's client needs and creating wireframes, different user cases, organizing all the information, and the visual part. And if the project was very new, we prepared the designs for user testing.

Project Manager

After a year, I took on the role of Project Manager, leading teams and ensuring that all components were developed correctly so that all development teams, which numbered 7 at that time, applied the components correctly, both functionally and visually. We worked with Agile methodology with two-week sprints and monthly releases. Later, I was also in charge of other projects such as the Login section.

Throughout this process, we paid close attention to accessibility, and I was also responsible for designing the accessibility of all components and training the business teams to design the accessibility of their screens so that developers did not have to program what they interpreted.

Learnings

Working with this client has helped me in many aspects and phases of a product. Whether it's from its inception, thinking about the product, the business strategy to bring it to market at a strategic time, or ideating it, gathering information from competitors, collaborating with many teams, whether design, business, or development, each of which uses a different language. It also gave me the ability to train in accessibility and understand the importance it has in every design and the impact it can have.
